PROJECT ENGINEER

 Job Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects.  He/she will plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned engineering work: monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, laws, accepted engineering practices, and MEPC’s standards.  This position will ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.

Typical Duties

Typical duties include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Project engineering schedules and forecasts
  • Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables
  • Monthly project status reports and change orders
  • Civil Engineering Calculations, plans, design, layout and specifications

Essential Functions 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate the technical and management aspects of assigned projects
  • Perform design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience
  • Review shop drawings
  • Direct and supervise drafting activities
  • Accountable for the successful completion of assigned engineering projects
  • Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project clients
  • Participate in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues
  • Ensure effective engineering and client communications
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents
  • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and very measurements within the project area
  • Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects in a fast paced environment

 Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of four (4) years of experience and/or holding an Engineer in Training License, or
  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of six (6) years of experience and/or holding a Surveyor in Training License, or
  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience, or
  • Ten (10) years of experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing 

  • AutoCAD
  • Advanced computer skills in the Microsoft Suite of products
  • Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer desirable

 CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN 

Job Description 

Requires thorough knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques, as well as CAD graphics skills.  This position is responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.  Must be able to devise new approaches to problems and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance with applicable codes and laws, accepted engineering practices and MEPC standards.

Typical Duties 

Typical duties include but are not limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following: 

  • Civil engineering drawings, diagrams, calculations, charts and graphs
  • Civil engineering plans, design and layout

Essential Functions 

Essential functions listed below are typical for all Civil Engineering Technicians, with varying levels of responsibility and emphasis based on the level of the position being held by the employee. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests and other data to plan and design work
  • Research design options and document findings for assigned projects
  • May serve as Project Engineer and as designated client contact on smaller, less complex projects
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents
  • Organize, draft and coordinate technical documents
  • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions and take and verify measurements within project areas
  • Participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, or
  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience, or
  • Ten (10) years of experience

 Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing
